20. Saskatoon, SK

Dates: July 24-26, 2015

We had a very special reason to be travelling to Saskatoon this summer- Will’s sister Alex planned her wedding for July 25! We left home around 5 am and arrived in Saskatoon around 3:30 pm, just in time to help with decorating at the hotel. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Park Town Hotel, and the decorations Alex put together worked perfectly with the venue. We had fun helping set up and having a chance to visit with some relatives we hadn’t seen in quite awhile. We then enjoyed a yummy dinner and some visiting at Alex’s new house that evening. When we got back to the hotel, we hopped in the elevator, and ended up stuck on the basement level with Will’s mom and 5 of their relatives from Winnipeg! We were stuck for about half an hour, which gave us a good opportunity to visit with these lovely ladies! The hotel staff were very apologetic, and gave us vouchers for free breakfast. Once we were out of the elevator, we went for a walk around the downtown area, discovering a few restaurants and shops in the area, as well as a beautiful park with trails next to the hotel. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious (free!) breakfast, and then spent the morning exploring outside with Will’s cousin and his wife.

We then had lunch with his dad’s relatives that came out from Ontario for the wedding before getting ready for the wedding. We were able to guide guests to their seats before the ceremony, and then ensured that the groom didn’t see the bride before the girls came down the aisle!

The ceremony was short and sweet, and was followed by family pictures outside in the park.

Alex was a stunning bride with a dress that suited her perfectly!

The wedding party then went to do pictures together, so we joined Will’s uncle for a chat over beers in a pub. When it was time for the reception, we were amazed at how well the staff transformed the room where the ceremony had been just a couple hours earlier. We were able to visit with lots of family and some of Alex’s friends before enjoying a yummy dinner and speeches.

We then had an awesome time dancing the night away!

Hehe, here's me with our 'junior bridesmaids' from our wedding 6 years ago. They just didn't stop growing!

The first dance for the newly weds!                      Us with the beautiful bride!

In the morning, we were able to join family and friends again for brunch before hitting the road again. We were so happy to be there for this special day!

Once we left Saskatoon, we headed south, stopping in Minot, ND that night. We then drove all day on Monday, stopping in Menomonie, WI. Will's birthday was FILLED with driving, getting us to Toledo, OH (and requiring a definite birthday celebration 'do-over' at our next destination... although he enjoyed opening a birthday card after every 2 hours of driving!). We finished off the drive on Wednesday, arriving in Buffalo, NY to visit with our friend's Grant and Melissa. We stayed over and then left VERY early in the morning for a flight out to our next destination...stay tuned!
