19. Cooper Lake

Date: July 19, 2015

On the first official day of summer break, Will knocked down our fence and deck, creating a big fence project for himself! He worked really hard to get it done, and had the assistance of a friend for the first week and a bit. After that, I tried my best to help each day (balancing work with trips to the beach, hiking in the community forest and visits with friends!), but I was slightly less productive than Will. He was willing to learn a lot, and showed determination to get things done each early morning our alarm went off! We just finished yesterday morning (with just one more coat of stain to go), so after thoroughly enjoying July Fest in Kimberley for the first time yesterday afternoon/evening, opted for a hiking day today!

Cooper Lake is in Lumberton, on the way to Moyie. We drove on a bunch of logging roads to get there and our car braved the bumps really well!

The hike itself was only about an hour, but we had a few stops for delicious huckleberries growing all along the trail!

Relaxing by Cooper Lake!

What a beautiful spot to enjoy and have a picnic!

We loved walking around the lake, exploring the area for a while before heading back out. On our way out on the forest service roads, we attempted to find Moyie Falls, but since it required a creek crossing, we decided we would save that one for another day!

We are now all geared up and looking forward to the rest of our summer adventures! Stay tuned...
