Ontario

Of the gladdest moments in human life, methinks, is the departure on a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off, with one mighty effort, the fetters of Habit, the leaden weight of Routine, the cloak of many Cares, and the slavery of Home, one feels once more happy. The blood flows with the fast circulation of childhood... A journey, in fact, appeals to Imagination, to Memory, to Hope- the three sister Graces of our moral being.
- Sir Richard Francis Burton, ZANZIBAR
*I came across this quote while reading Bruce Kirkby's Dolphin's Tooth, which was a perfect pre-travel read to get us ready for our adventure!

We have been in Ontario for just over three weeks, and have had an absolutely amazing time visiting with friends and family. From lounging at cottages to prepping for parties, we have bopped around doing quite a bit! Although moving around meant spending a lot of time sitting on the QEW, we appreciated having the time to visit people all over the place. We feel so loved, and so lucky that people have made it a priority to spend quality time with us while we were here. Thank you to everyone who fed us, hosted us overnight, gave us rides, and thoroughly entertained us. We have loved hearing the excitement about our blog, and are thrilled to have so many people interested in following along on our journey. We have especially loved having the opportunity to see how much our friends' kids have grown since our last visit! Our only regret now is having been SO 'in the moment' during all of these visits that we've come away with very few pictures. We're going to have to smarten up fast!

This is our last post from Canadian soil, as we head to Uganda later on today. We'll be sure to post again when we're settled in our new digs in Ggaba Beach!

Had the opportunity to visit Sarah and her family at their beautiful new cottage in Tobermory.

The big event: Grandpa's 80th Birthday!

  2. Too many Burgesses, too little time.
Can't trust a one of them, unfortunately.
